Lazio director Mariano Fabiani says the Biancocelesti will sell Luis Alberto only if an offer suits the club, but Claudio Lotito insists the Spaniard is not on the market.

Fabiani and Lotito recently spoke about Luis Alberto’s future. Only a few weeks ago, the player said that he wanted to rescind his contract with the club at the end of the season.

Lotito reiterated on Wednesday that the Spanish midfielder is “not on the market” and denied that he’s ready to sell him for €15m.

Fabiani, however, offered a slightly different version, saying that Lazio are open to listening to offers for the 31-year-old.

Lazio explain stance on Luis Alberto transfer

“The situation is pretty simple: Lazio must be at the core, and there must be no space for selfishness and ego,” the Lazio sporting director told Radiosei on Thursday.

“Luis Alberto is an important player and he has a contract with Lazio. I’ve always said that we’ll assess potential offers at the end of the season, but the club always thinks about our good. We are all at the club’s and fans’ disposal. Luis has expressed his desire and we’ll consider it. We will accept [to sell him] only if it doesn’t hurt the club, otherwise we’ll consider other options. This is true for Luis Alberto and the others.”

Luis Alberto was not included in Lazio’s squad list for last week’s game against Empoli due to disciplinary reasons.
